About The Blue Canary Project

The Blue Canary Project was created by parents for parents to share what we wish we could have handed to ourselves on the day our kids came out to us.

We offer this work because we believe in a world where ALL children thrive because the adults who care for them are equipped to help them navigate the decisions and conversations that come with supporting a child’s gender journey.

When your child is on a gender journey, congratulations! You are on a new journey of learning and discovery, too.

Therefore, we created a free Parent Workbook and Group Guide to help parents and caregivers through a set of carefully selected questions and grounding actions. The workbook is designed to help you self-reflect and center your relationship with your child so that you can co-create the right plan together.

What we offer is

  • not perfect, but it is offered from the heart and through lived experience

  • created through the generous, informed guidance of transgender youth, transgender and other LGBTQ+ adults, medical and mental health professionals, and support organizations

  • always free to access - no pay wall, no information required

  • privacy first - we are not tracking or collecting any of your information

  • not professional advice - we are not therapists and if you need additional support strongly suggest you seek out a gender-affirming therapist

Even the most well-intentioned parent can feel unprepared to help their gender-exploring child navigate the social norms and systems of a gender binary world.

We are glad you are here!
